Put Your Wardrobe on a Diet – Lose Weight with the Right Clothes

January 27th, 2010 by Ginny DePaso, The Scarf Magician

You can use your wardrobe to give a slimming effect.  Here are some simple steps to keep in mind when putting your wardrobe together!

  • V neck blouse draws eyes upward from the bust line away from your body.
  • Vertical lines will give an elongated thinner illusion.
  • A fitted blazer will give your shoulders, waist and hips a perfect proportion.  Add a belt either wide or narrow depending on the size of your waistline.  This will separate your waist.
  • Long necklaces will lengthen your torso.
  • Try an empire waist blouse if you have a larger waist and accent the smallest part of the rib cage.
  • Hem lines of pants should be an inch from the floor and matching shoes will give the illusion of long lean legs.
  • Wide leg pants will narrow your hips and dark colors will slim your legs.
  • Dark colors will minimize and light colors will maximize legs.
  • Make sure to tailor your clothes when buying off the rack.  If it doesn’t fit you will look very disheveled and unfit.

Now that you have a wardrobe with a WOW factor that is slimming, tailored, eloquent and professional don’t forget your hair, makeup and accessories.  I’ll be talking about that next.
